Similar to the older Fusion models, these are cavity backs, with a thermoplastic urethane filler called Sensert, which is designed to decrease vibration and produce a solid feel. They have a Tunite cradle designed to move the weight to the perimeter and a titanium face for faster ball speeds.

What makes them different is a narrower topline and thinner sole.  Reputedly, this is supposed to make them cosmetically more attractive to the mid and lower handicappers, but they would appear to be constructed more traditionally, which may not greatly assist this category of player but I could be wrong.

Like most clubs it’s all about feel, and what suits one may not suit another, so there is no point I suppose pigeon-holing people. Nowadays, golfers get access to trial clubs at the driving range or their pro shop, so rather than go for ’sexy’ looking clubs, it’s best to try before you buy.

I used to like the feel of the Fusions and am looking forward to trying a set of these Callaway FT Irons. What is bizarre is that they are going for a traditional look but only supply these in sets of 4-SI. A traditionalist like myself needs a 3 iron!
